Bob Hope    Downtown    In the Field    Long Bien    On the Road    Training

Epilogue

While assigned to the 221st Signal Co. we filmed the Bob Hope shows. Copies of the film were distributed and viewed by those unable to attend.

We worked very hard together throughout the entire trip.  We literally followed Bob Hope and the rest of the show everywhere they went including Thailand.  We actually ate Thanksgiving dinner on the aircraft carrier John Hancock with Bob Hope, Rosie Greer, Ann Margaret, her husband Roger Smith, and the rest of the cast and crew.

Needless to say, it was very exciting. We worked hard, but we always managed to have fun.   Of course, if we had a little too much fun, the Lieutenant was there to keep us straight (actually he had a rather unusual birthday in Thailand, but that's another story - I think he forgave us anyway...Thanks Jack!!!)

Vietnam was a very stressful time and place for everyone, but we all made some really great friends.  Bernie and I were practically inseparable.  I have missed them all very much over the years.  To Bernie, Jack, Larry, Henry, and of course Joe, I've thought about you guys a lot over the years and have missed you all very much.  Wherever you are, I hope that you are well and that life has been absolutely the best to you.  Take care...your buddy, Hal Lowe

I've recently had an opportunity to speak to Bernie on the telephone.  It was great to talk to him.  Even though the years had passed, it was clear from the ease of our conversation how we had become such close friends.

Jack found my website!  He found it somehow using one of the Internet searches.  Jack is a producer working in television and has two shows going simultaneously.  So, we've been corresponding via email and hope to have an actual conversation in the near future...Hal
